Experience the majestic natural beauty of tahquitz palm springs

A hidden gem in the midst of the high desert, Tahquitz Falls awaits the intrepid hiker. Your journey to this idyllic respite begins at the Tahquitz Canyon Visitor Center, where you will find a two mile loop trail that offers 350 feet in elevation gain. Due to the rocky, steep nature of the trail, good balance and the ability to climb up and down tall rock steps is a must. The trail offers stunning natural beauty but limited shade, no restrooms and no water, so proper preparation is essential.

Prices -

Admission to hike Tahquitz Canyon Palm Springs is $12.50 for adults; $6.00 for children (12 and under) and FREE for U.S. military with ID. Group rates are available, and prices/hours are subject to change. Sorry, no animals are allowed.

Hours -

The trail is open daily, October through June, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In the warmer, summer months of July, August and September, the trail is open only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Year-round, the last admission is at 3:30 p.m.

  • Tell me more about the type of trails the Canyon has?

Talquitz Canyon is an impressive two-mile loop trail that rewards you with the beautiful Talquitz Falls. However, hiking the trail is a strenuous endeavor. Limited shade and steep, rocky inclines include many rock steps to climb, some as high as 12-15 inches. Limited shade and no available water sources require hikers to dress appropriately for the weather and carry an adequate water supply.
  • What are Some Hiking Tips I should keep in mind?

The canyon has very little shade from the Palm Springs sun, and has no restroom facilities or water fountains, so it's recommended that hikers bring plenty of water for the trip, and plan bathroom breaks appropriately. Hikers are strongly encouraged to dress for the right weather conditions, use sunscreen to protect themselves from the sun, and wear hiking boots or sneakers appropriate for the trail. Travelers with leather sole shoes, high heels, or flip flops may not be allowed on the trail.
